Sunscreen Lotion SPF 40

This sunscreen lotion formulation is designed to provide U.S. broad spectrum (critical wavelength ≥ 370 nm) performance. HallBrite® BHB aids wetting and dispersion of the Titanium Dioxide and contributes to enhanced product feel. HallTress® DIBA Special and HallBrite® BHB contribute to UV filter solubility. This formulation was subjected to in vitro analysis and delivered SPF ~40, PFA (PPD) ~8 performance with critical wavelength 373 nm.

PREPARATIVE PROCEDURE

1In secondary vessel combine phase A and start mixing. Slowly add phase B individually with continued mixing.
2Heat this oil phase AB to 80°C and then add phase C ingredients individually with mixing.
3Add water of phase D into main vessel, dissolve Disodium EDTA with continue mixing, and then add Xanthan Gum, stirring until fully incorporated.
4Start heating this water phase D to 75°C and add premixed phase E with mixing.
5When both phases are homogeneous and at their designated temperatures, slowly add phase ABC to phase DE with prop mixing.
6Homogenize combined phases for 3 minutes, resume prop mixing, start cooling and when batch is below 50°C add phase F, mixing well.
7Continue mixing until batch is at room temperature. Replace any water lost to evaporation, and mix until smooth.
