This sunscreen lotion formulation is designed to provide U.S. broad spectrum (critical wavelength ≥ 370 nm), label SPF 50+ performance. SolaStay® S1 contributes to photoprotection through stabilization of this Titanium Dioxide-based formulation by mitigating the photocatalytic and reactive oxygen species generating activities of the oxide to improve sunscreen performance. HallBrite® BHB, Sensolene® and Biochemica® Matcha Green Tea butter are included to enhance spreadability and contribute to elegant emollience. In vitro analysis suggests SPF ~63, PFA (PPD) ~13 performance with critical wavelength 379 nm.

1 | To a secondary vessel add phase A, start mixing and slowly add phase B to phase A with continued mixing. |
2 | Heat phase AB to 80°C and then add phase C ingredients with mixing. Add phase D right before combining with water phase and mix well. |
3 | To the main vessel add the Water of phase E, start mixing, add the Disodium EDTA and then add the Xanthan Gum and heat this phase to 75°C. |
4 | When both phases are homogeneous and at their designated temperatures, slowly add oil phase ABCD to water phase E with prop mixing. |
5 | Homogenize combined phases for 3 minutes and resume prop mixing. |
6 | Start cooling and when batch is below 50°C add premix of phase F and then phase G with continued mixing. |
7 | Replace any water lost to evaporation and mix batch until smooth and at desired filling temperature. |
