Broad Spectrum Oil-in-Water SPF 50 Sunscreen Cream

A broad spectrum SPF 50 sunscreen cream.   Extremely rapid exicited state quencher SolaStay® S1 is incorporated to photostabilize Octinoxate and Avobenzone and mitigate the photocatalytic and reactive oxygen species generating activities of the oxide.  One person in vivo testing yielded static SPF 55 in a Korean lab. In vitro SPF 55, PFA 18, performance with critical wavelength 377 nm.

PREPARATIVE PROCEDURE

1To a secondary vessel add phase A and start mixing, add phase B and heat to 80°C.
2Add phase C into phase AB, mixing well until all are dissolved.
3To the main vessel add the Water and Glycerin of phase D, start mixing and add remaining phase items in order.
4When solids of phase D are fully incorporated, heat phase D to 75°C.
5When both phases are homogeneous and at their designated temperatures, slowly add phase ABC to phase D with mixing.
6Start homogenizing batch and after 3 minutes, resume center stir mixing and start cooling batch.
7When batch is below 45°C add phase E ingredients one by one with mixing.
8Continue mixing until batch is at room temperature, replacing any water lost to evaporation and mixing until smooth.
