Broad Spectrum Oil-in-Water Mineral SPF 50 Sunscreen Cream

A broad spectrum natural (mineral UV filters only) SPF 50 sunscreen cream. SolaStay® S1 is incorporated to mitigate the photocatalytic and reactive oxygen species generating activities of the oxides. This composition was subjected to in vitro analysis and delivered SPF ~54, PFA (PPD) ~20 performance with critical wavelength 378 nm.

PREPARATIVE PROCEDURE

1To a secondary vessel add phase A and start mixing, add phase B and heat to 80°C.
2Add phase C into phase AB, mixing well until all are dissolved, and then homogenize for 3 minutes.
3To the main vessel add the Water of phase D, start mixing and add remaining phase items in order.
4When solids of phase D are fully incorporated, heat phase to 75°C.
5When both phases are homogeneous and at their designated temperatures, slowly add phase ABC to phase D with prop mixing.
6After 5 minutes start cooling batch and when batch is < 50°C add premixed phase E and then phase F.
7Continue mixing until batch is at room temperature, replacing any water lost to evaporation and mixing until smooth.
