This formulation was designed to provide broad spectrum (SPF/PFA <3) label SPF 20 performance. SolaStay® S1 provides very rapid and efficient excited state quenching of Avobenzone, protecting it from photodegradation. SolaStay® S1 also mitigates the photocatalytic and reactive oxygen species generating activities of the oxide to improve sunscreen performance. HallBrite® BHB contributes to UV filter solubility and enhanced product feel. This formulation was subjected to in vitro analysis and delivered SPF ~23, PFA (PPD) ~8, performance with critical wavelength 378 nm.

| In secondary vessel add phase A and start mixing. Slowly add phase B to phase A with continued mixing and begin heating to 85°C. |
| After TiO2 is dispersed, add phase C ingredients to phase AB with mixing, then add phase D to phase ABC and mix until homogenous. |
| Add the water from phase E to the main vessel, dissolve Disodium EDTA with continued mixing and then add Xanthan Gum, stirring until fully incorporated. Start heating phase E to 80°C and add premix of phase F to phase E. |
| When both phases are homogeneous and at their designated temperatures, slowly add the oil phase ABCD to the water phase EF with prop mixing. Homogenize for 3 minutes, return to prop mixing and continue to cool and mix until batch is at room temperature. |
| Replace any water lost to evaporation, mix batch until smooth and perform quality assurance checks. |
