Natural Sunscreen Lotion SPF 50

This natural (mineral UV filters only) broad spectrum sunscreen lotion uses SolaStay® S1 to mitigate the photocatalytic and reactive oxygen species generating activities of the oxides. It was subjected to in vitro analysis and delivered SPF ~54, PFA (PPD) ~18 performance with critical wavelength 378 nm. In vivo testing (three persons) yielded static SPF 57.9 in support of in vitro results.

PREPARATIVE PROCEDURE

1To a secondary vessel add phase A, start mixing, add phase B, heat to 85°C and then add phase C.
2To the main vessel add the Water of phase D, start mixing, add the other phase D ingredients in order, continue stirring phase D until fully incorporated and then start heating to 80°C.
3When both phase ABC and phase D are homogeneous and at their designated temperatures, slowly add the oil phase ABC to the water phase D with mixing and then homogenize for 3 minutes and start cooling.
4Add premix phase E when batch is below 50°C and then add phase F with mixing.
5Continue mixing until batch is at room temperature, replacing any water lost to evaporation and mixing until smooth.
