This sunscreen lotion formulation was designed to provide broad spectrum (SPF/PFA <3) label SPF 30 performance. SolaStay® S1 provides very rapid and efficient excited state quenching of Avobenzone, protecting it from photodegradation and so improve sunscreen performance. HallBrite® BHB aids UV filter solubility and enhances product feel. This formulation was subjected to in vitro analysis and delivered SPF ~ 38, PFA (PPD) ~ 12 performance with critical wavelength 377 nm

1 | In a secondary Vessel, combine Phase A and mix well. Disolve Phase B with mixing, and heat AB to 80C |
2 | Add phase C with mixing until homogenous |
3 | In the mian vessel, add water of phase D, and dissolve EDTA. When EDTA dissolve, add Xanthan gum and mix until fully incorporated |
4 | Heat main vessel to 80C. Add premix of phase E |
5 | When Oil phase (ABC) and water phase (DE) are both homogeneous and at designated temperatures, slowly add ABC into DE with prop mixing |
6 | Homogenize for 3 mins. Resume prop mixing, and start cool down with mixing. |
7 | Add premixed phase F into ABCDE (pH 7.5-8.0) |
8 | When batch is >50C, add phase G individualy with mixing |
9 | When the batch is uniform, add deionized water to correct for evaporative losses. Continue mixing with smooth. |
