Sunscreen Lotion Spray SPF 30

This sunscreen lotion spray formulation was designed to provide broad spectrum (SPF/PFA <3) label SPF 30 performance. SolaStay® S1 provides very rapid and efficient excited state quenching of Avobenzone, protecting it from photodegradation. HallBrite® BHB contributes to UV filter solubility and enhances product feel. This formulation was subjected to in vitro analysis and delivered SPF ~35 , PFA (PPD) ~15 performance with critical wavelength 375 nm.

PREPARATIVE PROCEDURE

1To the main vessel add the Water of phase A, start mixing, add the remaining phase A ingredients in order, and heat to 70°C.
2To a secondary vessel add phase B, start mixing, add phase C, heat to 70°C, and then add phase D.
3With both phases at 70°C, add phase BCD to phase A with stirring. After mixing for 5 mins, start cooling and homogenize for 3 minutes.
4Continue mixing with cooling. At 50°C or lower, very slowly add phase E, and mix for 20 minutes.
5Combine and add phase F, then add phase G. When batch is at 35°C or lower, add phase H with mixing.
6Replace any water lost to evaporation and mix until smooth.
