The Brazil nut tree is found typically in the northern area of Brazil. The fruit of this tree is high in nutritional content, and the seed contains approximately 67% oil. The Brazil nut tree grows wildly in “family” groupings, making it easy to hand pick the select nuts (seeds). It is one of the largest trees found in the Brazilian rainforest. The flowers blossom in November, and it takes approximately 14 months for the fruit to ripen for harvest. After harvesting, the seeds are expeller pressed to render a yellow, transparent oil with a slight nutty odor reminiscent of the flavor of Brazil nuts. The oil is rich in fatty acids such as oleic and linoleic, with small amounts of myristic and stearic acids, along with phytosterol; It is also naturally rich in vitamins A, B, C and E.
Biochemica® Brazil Nut Oil may be used in cosmetics, toiletries, bar soaps, massage oils, hair care and sun care applications. It acts on cutaneous dryness, forming a film that impedes evaporation of moisture from the skin.
